Rilis & pelacak changelog

Pulled from the public GitHub Releases API for tangency-labs/SolidCraft. Generated . Nightlies included but labelled. Authoritative notes always live on GitHub.

Apa yang berubah di 0.30.0 (ringkasan kami dari catatan resmi; rilis minor dan rilis saat ini):

  • Kompatibilitas (kritis): 0.30.0 menulis format file desain 47 (0.29.x menulis 46). Referensi wajah lama mempertahankan perilaku sebelumnya sampai bidang sketsa didefinisikan ulang. File gambar (.scdwg) tetap format 1; masih belum ada ruang kerja Drawing.
  • Sorotan: keep/compare up to eight renders (Compare divider, All shots); large web designs open with progress and Cancel instead of freezing; Plane through axis+point; Measure on construction geometry plus more radius/diameter; Sketch Offset Instances; construction lines with optional Length and Construction|Normal; Sketch Ellipse major/minor boxes; Remove Spline Point; Move Sketches to Their Parts; Hide component History from the Browser; Loft/Surface Loft two sections from one sketch; Press Pull on a chamfer flat face; Cancel on the Computing toast; Parameters Filter reads expressions; View angles zero/lock; Creo Parametric mouse mapping; invert curved view cube arrows; turn off preview tints; per-format Export commands (STEP/STL/3MF/OBJ/URDF); Agent chat model picker + copy whole message; rebindable Assistant shortcut; MCP compare_picture (22 tools).
  • Peningkatan (pilihan): Sketch Project arcs; assemblies face-extrude / Relink .json; Send to Slicer Print face per body; faster large designs; scripting/MCP names_only, timeline feature type, sketch axis directions; control-channel ui.inspect/ui.editFeature/ui.start.

What changed in 0.29.0 (our summary of the official notes; a minor release on format 46):

  • Compatibility (critical): 0.29.0 writes design file format 46 (0.28.x wrote 45). Format 46 adds Align on chosen axes, equation curve variables with their range unit, and linked design file digests. 0.29.0 opens every earlier design, but 0.28.x and earlier refuse a design once 0.29.0 has saved it — update everyone you share files with first. Drawing files (.scdwg) stay format 1; there is still no Drawing workspace. macOS builds are now made on macOS 15 and still run on macOS 11+.
  • Highlights: system language on first start plus a Preferences System language choice; Sketch Offset keeps corners joined; Joints folder under each component and drag-eye across Browser rows; Measure starts from the selection with draggable labels; freehand lasso (opt-in); Align on chosen axes; Edit Joint can re-pick both sides; Sketch Chamfer multi-corner; Fillet/Chamfer meet-first on non-meeting lines; paste sketch geometry between designs; line↔tangent arc rest gesture; equation curves with length units; expressions in rectangles and centre circles; Gruvbox Light/Dark with Contrast; theme options (opacity, tab colours); keep dialogs across design tabs; Extrude isometric prefs; navigator fit plus Home/Fit size; invert view cube arrows; NX mouse mapping; sketching on a face can activate that part; keep shape of dark parts; Linux system title bar (SOLIDCRAFT_TITLEBAR=system); colour picker HSV/recent; assembly.mass_properties; ribbon tooltips everywhere.
  • Improved (selected): Preferences reorganised into twelve pages under four headings; settings save as soon as they change; live viewport details for analysis/Section; alignment guides from end points and corners; Update Links as one undo; faster large-assembly Properties; MCP expect / check_parameters / measure summary / cylinder-only topology (carried from 0.28 docs patches, still in 0.29.0).

What changed in 0.28.0 (our summary of the official notes; a minor release on format 45):

  • Compatibility (critical): 0.28.0 writes design file format 45 (0.27.x wrote 44). Format 45 adds nested and ordered Browser groups, point cloud properties and filters, and print faces. 0.28.0 opens every earlier design, but 0.27.x and earlier refuse a design once 0.28.0 has saved it — update everyone you share files with first. Drawing files (.scdwg) stay format 1; there is still no Drawing workspace.
  • Highlights: Print Face (Ctrl+B / face menu / Send to Slicer row) so Send to Slicer, save-mesh-for-slicer and Open in EasyPrint lay that face on the bed; analysis ribbon pressed state plus viewport analysis/section status items (prefs to hide); point clouds colour and filter by any PLY property; Construction Line family for infinite reference lines; copy completed sketches between designs (with parameters; refused if the plane or projections depend on outside model geometry); nest and reorder Browser groups; Personal Sheet Metal Rules; Quick measurement (off by default); Insert Part into several holes at once; Sketch Report / Inspect Sketch (solver status, DOF, unconstrained curves/points, Copy JSON); hyperbolic expression functions; number parameters in sketch text; Finnish UI language.
  • Improved (selected): Select Other includes hidden geometry by default; status items fold; Browser eye on the right; reorder features in Browser History; Apply parameter edits together (opt-in); Hide constraint glyphs when zoomed out; Value boxes pref; turn to face a sketch when it opens; GPU path tracing on NVIDIA; Help › Check for updates; model cache improvements; bridged --param-check / app capability negotiation (carried from 0.27.1).

What changed in 0.27.1 (our summary of the official notes; a patch release on format 44):

  • Compatibility: 0.27.1 writes design file format 44, the same as 0.27.0, so designs move freely between them. 0.26.x and earlier refuse a design once 0.27.0 or 0.27.1 has saved it. Drawing files (.scdwg) stay format 1.
  • SolidCraft 95 theme: an active bottom-bar toggle (for example Orthographic) now draws its label and icon in the theme’s selected-text colour when the accent colour does not read (#9171).
  • System theme (macOS and Linux): with Theme set to System, the app follows the OS dark/light style while it runs — macOS Appearance (#9103), and on Linux the desktop portal (GNOME/KDE).
  • Older designs: a sketch with a projected face seen edge-on keeps its line on rebuild, so an offset that uses that line no longer fails (#9097).
  • Empty sketch: a new sketch with no geometry says empty in the view instead of “fully constrained” (#9104).
  • Render: a raster too large for the renderer is refused before it starts, with a size or geometry suggestion (#5728).
  • MCP: solidcraft-cli mcp --param-check now also checks calls sent to a running app, not only a headless session (#9073).

What changed in 0.27.0 (our summary of the official notes; a minor release, still format 44):

  • Compatibility (critical): 0.27.0 writes design file format 44 (0.26.x wrote 43; 0.27.1 keeps format 44). Format 44 adds equation-driven sketch curves and joints in History folders. 0.27.0 opens every earlier design, but 0.26.x and earlier refuse a design once 0.27.0 or 0.27.1 has saved it — update everyone you share files with first. Drawing files (.scdwg) stay format 1; there is still no Drawing workspace.
  • Highlights: cut/paste features and sketches between components (Ctrl/Cmd+X then V; refused if dependents would break; one undo); copy/paste between designs (bodies become imported bodies; components arrive as an independent copy with history, joints and parameters); equation curves in sketches (x(t)/y(t) or y=f(x); Extrude/Revolve/Sweep; Edit Equation Curve); working 3D Line / 3D Spline / 3D Point tools with triad move; moment of inertia in Properties (tensor, principal moments/axes, first moments, Copy matrix, CoM marks); Settings profiles (Interface/Navigation/Sketch plus language, shortcuts and toolbar; export/import); several keys for one command on Keyboard Shortcuts; ISO 7380-1 button-head cap screws M3–M16; Arch Linux packages (x86_64 and aarch64, pacman -U); solidcraft-cli run --param-check off|warn|strict.
  • Navigation, view and assemblies: mouse-wheel zoom speed, Zoom with two-finger scroll while holding a key, Stop zoom at the model, Traced orbit, Right drag orbits (on by default; SolidWorks mouse preset turns it off), FOV slider, background colour, navigation bar at the top, status-bar mouse-mapping button, hide/show toolbar tabs, Browser fold and Reveal on hover, History In-browser failure marks, joint-motion handles for Assemble → Move (coarse/fine steps under Design › Assembly Move), Align Object Type Bodies|Components, joints in History folders.
  • Render, sketch and packaging: GPU path tracing on macOS (Metal); larger Render preview geometry budget; sketch line-up-with-points while drawing; Dimension a model edge/vertex; Intersect faces/bodies with Projection Link; press-and-drag one line. macOS stays Apple Developer ID signed and notarized; Windows builds are still unsigned while SignPath is set up (SmartScreen may warn). New designs still save as .sc.

What changed in 0.26.1 (our summary of the official notes; a patch release):

  • Compatibility: 0.26.1 writes design file format 43, the same as 0.26.0, so designs move freely between them. 0.25.1 and earlier refuse a design once 0.26.0 or 0.26.1 has saved it. Drawing files (.scdwg) stay format 1.
  • Security: update-check HTTPS now uses rustls-webpki 0.103.16 and webpki-root-certs 1.0.10 (RUSTSEC-2026-0382/0383 — distrusted intermediates). In SolidCraft this only affects the desktop update check (#8588).
  • Linux trackpad pinch: pinch-to-zoom now works under Wayland and XWayland (as on macOS and in the browser) (#8023) — correcting the earlier tip that only native Wayland received the gesture.
  • Play History and UI: History controls / Inspect → History Play rebuilds one feature at a time (Preferences can restore the four-button strip); optional vertex markers; History layout “In browser”; Extend two curves with Shift-click; Ctrl+Tab / Ctrl+Shift+Tab for design tabs; reverse trackpad orbit (Mac natural scrolling); drag a component under another in the Browser; Sketch Mirror about an origin axis; hex colours #rrggbb / #rrggbbaa; 3MF export objects: "component" for multi-material slicers.
  • Improved / fixed (concise): conflicting sketch geometry drawn in the conflict colour; notices stack bottom-right; Render editors; Windows no longer loads a foreign dxcompiler.dll from PATH at start (#7923); Extrude huge-distance freeze; long feature warning reopen; sketch/picking/components and Preferences typing focus.

What changed in 0.26.0 (our summary of the official notes; a minor release, still format 43):

  • Compatibility (critical): 0.26.0 writes design file format 43 (0.25.1 wrote 41). Format 42 keeps, for each linked component, the material/body look/face overrides last inherited from its source so Update Links can tell source edits from assembly changes; format 43 adds point clouds. 0.26.0 opens every earlier design, but 0.25.1 and earlier refuse a design once 0.26.0 has saved it — update everyone you share files with first. Drawing files (.scdwg) are format 1; there is still no Drawing workspace.
  • Highlights: insert point clouds (PLY/XYZ/PTS) as a modelling reference, saved in the design and coloured by file, a single colour, height, or a named PLY property (ramp or integer palette, with optional property filters/range; large scans thinned to 5 M points by default); give components a BOM type (normal/phantom/reference/purchased/inseparable) via commands, scripts and MCP — assembly.bom counts by type, though the BOM window does not show it yet; edit a linked component in place (double-click opens it with the assembly faded; Finish Edit saves and returns — Preferences can make double-click only activate); optional Status bar and View angles readout (both off by default); Maya and HFSS mouse presets, reverse vertical pan, and Ctrl/Cmd+W closes the design.
  • Sketch, modelling and Render: alignment guides; center-point arc follows the cursor; sketch icons coloured by state; Dimension new shapes prefs; dimensions in their own colour; arc-length dimension; Reverse Spline Direction; Keep the Sketch tab shown; Extrude/Revolve/… auto-choose Join/New Body/Cut; type name = value in any value box; Render Shots strip, Focus/Tab docks, scene tree/picking, appearance editor with appearance.replace, appearances grid/studios and Output editor.
  • Assemblies, files and languages: Insert Design keeps source material/appearance; Update Links brings source-only changes; Extrude on a face in an assembly picks the shown body; OBJ export writes body colours in .mtl; DXF elliptical arcs import as exact conics; max file size prefs; zip 9.1.3 security fix. New UI languages: Bosnian, Croatian and Serbian. macOS stays Apple Developer ID signed and notarized; Windows builds are still unsigned while SignPath is set up (SmartScreen may warn). New designs still save as .sc.

What changed in 0.25.1 (our summary of the official notes; a patch release):

  • Assemblies / Extrude to Object (critical): since 0.24.1, Extrude to Object set to Join also joined the body it ran up to even when that body belonged to another component, so separate parts (for example a PCB, a connector and an enclosure) could fuse into one body. In 0.25.1 Join only reaches bodies in its own component. Designs saved in 0.24.1 or 0.25.0 open correctly again; nothing broken was stored in the file.
  • Design extension: new designs save as .sc. Existing .solidcraft files still open everywhere, and Save keeps that name; only Save As offers .sc. Official docs and CLI examples show design.sc / part.sc (same format number 41 — extension name only).
  • Compatibility: 0.25.1 writes design file format 41, the same as 0.25.0. 0.24.1 and earlier still refuse a design once 0.25.0 or 0.25.1 has saved it.

What changed in 0.25.0 (our summary of the official notes; a minor release):

  • Compatibility (critical): 0.25.0 writes design file format 41 (0.24.1 wrote 40). It opens every earlier design, but 0.24.1 and earlier refuse a design once 0.25.0 has saved it — update everyone you share files with first. (0.25.1 keeps format 41.)
  • Highlights: type name = value in a drawing tool’s value box to create a parameter as you go; sketch dimensions place and edit more cleanly, circles/arcs switch between radius and diameter, and dimensions delete from the right-click menu; add points to an existing spline; Repeat Last Command in the command palette (rebindable); Render workspace stage bar, aligned floating docks and Shots strip; smoother nested-assembly selection, Update Links that reloads only what changed, reused model results when placement doesn’t matter, and Direct3D 12 that no longer waits on shader compiles; new themes CGA, 1-bit and 1-bit Dark (theme files reload when you edit them); app id io.tangencylabs.solidcraft (existing installs keep working; macOS may ask for permissions once more).
  • Modelling and interface: Cylinder and Box place by reference edges, corner or centre; Physical Material starts from the selected bodies; a copying Move can be edited from History; deleting a component instance takes its joints; dialogs open in the left column in place of Browser/History; body appearance replaces imported STEP face colours; Save as Mesh can add all or visible bodies; free orbit can turn around the vertical axis; Turkish and French UI translations are complete.
  • Fixes: AMD on Direct3D 12 shows the scene; low GPU memory draws a smaller frame instead of crashing; a lost GPU no longer crashes on close; saving while the design changes keeps it marked unsaved; Report a bug keeps the screenshot on retake, includes the Messages log, and Ctrl/Cmd+Enter continues on GitHub.

What changed in 0.24.1 (our summary of the official notes; a patch release):

  • Compatibility (critical): 0.24.1 writes design file format 40 (0.24.0 wrote 39). It opens every earlier design, but 0.24.0 and earlier refuse a design once 0.24.1 has saved it — update everyone you share files with first.
  • Highlights: big-assembly viewport work (colours stored apart from geometry so highlight/hide/see-through skip a re-upload; off-screen bodies skipped; assembly names no longer rescan); copy/paste bodies and components across components and designs; Send to Slicer for selected bodies; Cone primitive (base and top radius); Sketch Transform (one handle box to scale, move and turn a selection); Canvas to Sketch (trace a canvas into a sketch); Insert SVG/DXF lets you place, size and turn the drawing first; designs open at last quit reopen; Arabic with right-to-left text.
  • Modelling and interface: Press Pull on a fillet’s round face edits the fillet; Extrude to Object with Join also joins the target; cuts and loft Join leave hidden bodies alone; History nests a sketch under its feature, lists origin/bodies at the top, and a feature eye shows or hides the bodies it made; Move/Copy can pick from the Browser; dialogs put OK/Cancel at the top; Shift snaps free orbit; Render workspace groundwork (lit-sphere and look-chain widgets).
  • Fixes: macOS native crashes reach crash reports; Pattern/Mirror seeds and construction planes reference features by id; a changed length dimension keeps its start point.

What changed in 0.24.0 (our summary of the official notes; a minor release):

  • Security (please update): links and design fonts that point at a network location (for example a UNC share) now ask before following — Update Links / Open Linked Design offer Allow once or Always allow this server, and Preferences › Design keeps the trusted-server list. A security advisory with more detail is forthcoming.
  • Compatibility (critical): 0.24.0 writes design file format 39 (0.23.1 wrote 38). It opens every earlier design, but 0.23.1 and earlier refuse a design once 0.24.0 has saved it — update everyone you share files with first.
  • Highlights: edit a sketch dimension in the model view (double-click when dimensions are shown, type a value or expression, rebuild); Preferences › Sketch can restore the previous view when a sketch ends (off by default); a Weldments ribbon tab for frames, plus placement handles for Rest, Boss and Snap Fit (Snap Fit gains base-height and new-body options); 3D arc sketch command; left- or right-handed threads; Clay / Clay Dark themes; features apply off the window thread so the UI stays responsive during rebuilds.
  • Interface: agent chat shows tool calls as plain summaries (details one click away); reopening an already-open design switches to its tab; Ctrl+Shift+S Save As; sketch dimension labels show their unit and the dimension box uses design units; optional perspective while orbiting with orthographic face-on views (off by default), and Perspective as a bindable command; History under the Browser follows Browser translucency; navigation-bar view commands.
  • Windows: builds go through SignPath code signing with a test certificate for now (production certificate on the way) — SmartScreen may still warn.

What changed in 0.23.1 (our summary of the official notes; a patch release):

  • Compatibility (critical): 0.23.1 writes design file format 38 (0.23.0 wrote 37). It opens every earlier design, but 0.23.0 and earlier refuse a design once 0.23.1 has saved it — update everyone you share files with first.
  • Highlights: joints placed on a hole rim, edge or corner follow that geometry when the part changes (all joint types; Update Links too); macOS Undo, Redo, Settings and Help are back in the app bar; each component gets its own colour (user-changeable); open and insert DXF outside a sketch; sketch patterns take count, spacing and angle from parameters; construction points and axes appear in the Browser and are pickable.
  • Modelling and assemblies: starting Extrude/Revolve finishes the open sketch; Pipe has an Operation row (join/cut/intersect); Move and Align work on placed components with previews; open a linked part from its assembly Browser row; loft apex from a sketch point; arc-length dims from an arc and its end point; a profile drawn twice is cut once.
  • Interface: the grid fades with distance; light 3D view in a dark window (and reverse); Look At for a planar face or plane; the Assistant warns when a turn uses no SolidCraft tools and when an Ollama model lacks tool support.

What changed in 0.23.0 (our summary of the official notes; a minor release):

  • Compatibility (critical): 0.23.0 writes design file format 37 (0.22.1 wrote 36). It opens every earlier design, but 0.22.1 and earlier refuse a design once 0.23.0 has saved it — update everyone you share files with first.
  • Highlights: section views are solid again (bodies behind the cut no longer show colour through the cap; hover no longer lights hidden geometry); cosmetic threads drawn on internal and external threads; sketch text built from a parameter follows every change; the web app can open a design from a link, with an embed mode for sharing; sheet metal gains Perforate and edge flanges with material outside and tangent bend positions; Preferences can pick the graphics card / adapter.
  • Modelling and sketch: the Timeline shows only the active component’s features; mesh export has a quality choice so small round features get enough sides; a sketch point on the origin can be dragged; finished sketches on a face stay visible with a dark halo; pattern edits preview while dragging; zero-length distance dimensions keep a sketch fully constrained; split-face names stay short.
  • Interface: new themes Okibi (dark) and Akari (light); built-in themes also include Clay (warm ivory paper, terracotta accent, rounded corners) and Clay Dark (warm charcoal with the same accent and corners); one set of X/Y/Z colours for origin axes, view triad and Move gizmo; the AI assistant picks the provider first, then its model. Product UI translations add Norwegian Bokmål plus large Brazilian Portuguese, Ukrainian and Danish updates (product UI — not this site’s locales).
  • Fixes and speed: ambient occlusion no longer shows ghost copies; Measure reports no volume or mass for open surface bodies; faster joint solving and component listing on large assemblies.

What changed in 0.22.1 (our summary of the official notes; a patch release):

  • Compatibility (critical): 0.22.1 writes design file format 36 (0.22.0 wrote 35). It opens every earlier design, but 0.22.0 and earlier refuse a design once 0.22.1 has saved it — update everyone you share files with first.
  • AI apps auto-connect: on a normal launch SolidCraft adds itself to Claude Desktop and Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode, Gemini CLI, Copilot CLI, Cursor, VS Code, Windsurf and Zed. Help › Connect AI assistants re-runs the setup; Settings › Assistant turns it off.
  • solidcraft-cli on PATH everywhere: the Windows installer, the macOS app and the AppImage now put solidcraft-cli on PATH.
  • macOS signing note: 0.22.1’s notes mentioned signing and notarization (#6016). Current official docs say macOS releases are Apple Developer ID signed and notarized, so they open normally.
  • Agent chat: no per-message limit by default; an Unlimited checkbox on the AI page can set one if you want it.
  • Sheet metal: Path Flange; bend angles shown as the included press-brake angle.
  • Modelling / UI / fixes (concise): fillets keep each edge on its own body after parameter changes; holes gain independent tapping depth and recessed drill points; Offset Plane through a point; Revolve takes a planar body face; sketch on the sides of a thin extrude; curve-cross snap, symmetry between two fixed lines, point/circle-to-circle dimensions; section views no longer show edges behind the cut through the cap; each design tab keeps its own agent chat; warning when a design is open elsewhere or changed on disk; Extrude/Revolve show their sketch while editing; value fields step with arrow keys and mouse wheel; joint and speed fixes on large designs; Windows OpenGL uses the system title bar.

What changed in 0.22.0 (our summary of the official notes; a minor release):

  • Highlights: a first Render workspace (GPU render, studio lighting, materials, image export); Frames (profile library and members along sketch lines); richer Holes (place by edge distances, snap to face and round-edge centres, drag placed holes; tapped catalogues add metric fine, UNC/UNF and G/Rp); 3D mouse driver choice, calibration and button mapping; assemblies ground the first part and let free joint chains be dragged; the control channel and MCP stay on by default, with a Preferences setting to turn them off.
  • Modelling and sketch: mirror/pattern can use a pattern or mirror as the source; spherical shell revolve with a void; Extrude switches to To Object when you pick off-profile; Press Pull sends curved faces to Offset Face; coil parameters are editable; a sketch-tool shortcut cycles creation modes; Equal works on three or more curves; Trim at a circle’s tangent; Line diameter snap through a centre; slots and 2-point circles take typed dimensions; Cancel Sketch discards changes.
  • Interface: browser view saved with the design (optional hide-origin); drag-reorder design tabs; picking a body scrolls the browser; feature menus gain Rename/Delete; reference geometry can show through bodies (Preferences, off by default); exploded views export as animation; Linux Wayland or X11 choice; Agent chat can attach the current selection as context.
  • Fixes of note: FreeCAD .FCStd and Rhino .3dm import also work in the browser; 3MF from Bambu Studio names bodies after their objects; plus joint, rename, suppress and DXF Bézier fixes.
  • Compatibility: 0.22.0 saves design file format 35 (0.21.0 wrote 34). It opens every earlier design, but 0.21.0 and older refuse a design once 0.22.0 has saved it, so update everyone you share files with first.

What changed in 0.21.0 (our summary of the official notes; a minor release):

  • Standing imports: STEP and IGES never stand up without asking. A SolidWorks file still gets the stand-up offer (with a short why). Right-click an imported part or component → Turn Up Axis for Y↔Z any time after import. A sketch on an origin plane picked in the view uses the plane as shown after stand-up.
  • Big assemblies: hover and selection highlights of whole bodies reuse the model’s triangles (much less copy work on large assemblies). The Parameters dialog stays responsive with hundreds of features; Keyboard Shortcuts draws only on-screen rows. Oversized designs keep a thinned model cache so reopen does not re-evaluate everything. Agents can measure a whole design off the window thread.
  • New: native macOS menu bar (File, Edit, Window, Help); Section Analysis Hatch option (off keeps each body’s colour on the cut); History drag across the marker in one step; Pattern and Mirror accept a rib; expressions accept a leading =; sketch circular-pattern Quantity stays a parameter; Agent chat MCP skill_reference; unknown command ids suggest closest matches; solidcraft-cli bench-assistant.
  • Fixes: sketch (symmetry onto an axis, midpoint/curve snaps held, Break Offset Association for line offsets), modelling (empty intersect refused, intersection edges, rename after later deletes), sheet metal (Convert bend on tangent edges, Hem arrow, Flange tip on plain solids), dialogs (Combine from Browser, Move value follows drag / Tab through axes), Measure obtuse corners, mesh Convert without activating the component first, shared shortcuts for sketch and model tools, new-design units on the empty open design, web trackpad swipe pans, French pattern wording, and more.
  • Compatibility: 0.21.0 saves design file format 34 (0.20.0 wrote 31). It opens every earlier design, but 0.20.0 and older refuse a design once 0.21.0 has saved it, so update everyone you share files with first.

What changed in 0.20.0 (our summary of the official notes; a minor release):

  • Interface: the home / start page is redesigned as the File view. Preferences were rebuilt with the shared UI components used elsewhere in the app.
  • Big assemblies: repeated parts are drawn as instances, with coarser detail for distant bodies; see-through surfaces no longer sort triangle by triangle as the view turns. Each body has its own pick tree; imported meshes share triangles between document copies and weld shared vertices faster; placements of an instanced mesh that are out of view are skipped; face hover stays steadier; and each ribbon tab’s panel list is worked out once.
  • Modelling: a construction axis can be the axis of a Circular Pattern or a Revolve.
  • Fixes: leaving a sketch keeps the camera where it is; sketch fillet and chamfer refuse an offset’s corners; on Windows, SolidCraft no longer polls every USB HID device for strings every two seconds when no 3D mouse is connected; driving a joint moves the parts without re-evaluating them; Edit Offset Plane keeps a face base and refuses a plane offset from itself; deleted item IDs are not reused; Assistant agent detection finishes on the start page; and 95 dialog and preference labels that stayed in English now reach the translation catalog.
  • Compatibility: 0.20.0 saves design file format 31 (0.19.0 wrote 30) for construction-axis references. It opens every earlier design, but 0.19.0 and older refuse a design once 0.20.0 has saved it, so update everyone you share files with first.

What changed in 0.19.0 (our summary of the official notes; a minor release):

  • Workspace: Preferences › General now offers a Floating or a Compact layout. Compact joins the panels edge to edge with single borders, and folding the Browser and History stacks gives that space back to the 3D view. A separate “Show text under ribbon icons” switch makes the ribbon lower in either layout; tooltips and command menus remain. Panels, windows, confirmation prompts and menus now share one container, so they look and behave alike.
  • Assistant and History: the in-app Assistant was redesigned with grouped tool results (failures expand), approval cards, setup guidance and an input box fixed at the bottom; it runs the full height of the view on either side. History is now a resizable panel with buttons to jump to the start, step back, step forward and jump to the end, and you can dock it along the bottom, full height on the left or below the Browser.
  • Themes and navigation: official themes including SolidCraft 95, Blueprint, One Dark, Nord, Solarized Light, High Contrast, Catppuccin Mocha, Okibi, Akari, Clay and Clay Dark. Free orbit, off by default in Preferences › Navigation, lets the mouse and a 3D mouse orbit straight over the poles. Normal to Selection is in a face’s right-click menu and uses the same Ctrl+8 shortcut as Look At.
  • Modelling and fixes: typing name = value into a sketch dimension creates that user parameter and drives the dimension with it, and a Tapped Hole set to Custom keeps that choice and lets you edit its nominal diameter. Fixes cover chamfers next to walls, Mirror copies inside placed components, cuts through a component’s part, sketch snapping, MidPoint, trim and extend on offsets, the parameter editor, renaming, DXF view export with visible sketches and IGES parts made of several solids; orbiting no longer lags after a view-cube click, and solidcraft-cli --help now prints to standard output and exits with 0.
  • Compatibility: 0.19.0 saves design file format 30. It opens every earlier design, but 0.18.4 and older refuse a design once 0.19.0 has saved it, so update everyone you share files with first.

What changed in 0.18 (our summary of the official notes; 0.18.0 and 0.18.1 were pre-releases, 0.18.2, 0.18.3 and 0.18.4 were patch releases):

  • New interface: an application bar with a tab for each open design, and a ribbon with coloured tabs (Model, Surface, Assemble, Insert, Inspect, Manage, View and Sheet Metal, plus Sketch while you sketch). Command search lives in the ribbon and replaces the old command line at the bottom. 0.18.2 brought Parameters, Configurations, the Sheet Metal tab and the Finish Sketch button back where users expected them.
  • Files: the browser app saves to and opens files on your computer; File › Export STL… and Export 3MF… replace Save As Mesh…; every open tab gets its own recovery autosave; STEP and IGES import fixes, with IGES groups now arriving as nested components. In 0.18.3, large STEP assemblies reopen from the saved model cache instead of being converted again, and designs that contain STEP imports over 256 MB can be saved.
  • Sketching and modelling: two quick presses of Esc finish a sketch, Shift+R repeats the last tool, clicking another dimension puts its name into the value you are typing, plus fixes for symmetry, 2-tangent circles, booleans, lofts, extrudes, patterns and fillet previews. 0.18.3 lets Align use origin, construction and sketch planes and the origin point (and keeps it parametric), cuts a modelled thread on a shaft that is thicker than the thread (an M6 thread on an 8 mm shaft), keeps the numbering of split face pieces stable, and fixes body volumes that changed with position in Measure.
  • Languages: 15 interface languages completed by machine translation in 0.18.0; Dutch, Swedish, Traditional Chinese, Indonesian, Romanian and Hungarian added in 0.18.1, English (UK) in 0.18.2.
  • Agents: a failed MCP batch with rollback now restores the original document. 0.18.3 adds the running tool, which shows what the app is working on, and an opt-in setting that runs agent commands off the window thread so the window stays responsive.
  • 0.18.4: mostly a quicker start, above all on Windows: the first window no longer waits while the system’s CJK, Hangul and Thai fonts are located, and the start page loads its sample pictures and checks recent files in the background. View changes (view cube, axis triad, Look At, Fit, Home, named views, arrow keys) now jump straight to the new view instead of animating. Sketch tools such as Rectangle, Circle, Arc and Slot reopen in the variant you used last, and Preferences › Navigation can assign each 3D-mouse motion to a view axis.

Compatibility: 0.17 to 0.18.2 write design file format 28. 0.18.3 and 0.18.4 write format 29: they open every earlier design, but 0.18.2 and older cannot open a design once 0.18.3 or 0.18.4 has saved it. 0.16.x and earlier cannot open either format, 0.19.0 moved on to format 30, 0.20.0 to format 31, 0.21.0 to format 34, 0.22.0 to format 35, 0.22.1 to format 36, 0.23.0 to format 37, 0.23.1 to format 38, 0.24.0 to format 39, 0.24.1 to format 40, 0.25.0 / 0.25.1 to format 41, 0.26.0 / 0.26.1 to format 43, 0.27.0 / 0.27.1 to format 44, 0.28.0 to format 45, 0.29.0 to format 46, and 0.30.0 to format 47 (see above).

New

  • Keep and compare renders. The render workspace keeps up to eight finished renders per design for the session. Compare shows the live view or one render against another with a draggable divider and a swap button, and All shots in the Output footer renders every saved shot in turn, with running and waiting counts in the Shots strip (#7375).
  • Large designs open without freezing the web app. Opening a design in the browser now rebuilds a few features each frame, with a progress card that counts features and a Cancel button, and an opened design is drawn even though the page has no background worker (#10211, #10274, #10275, #10362).
  • Plane through an axis and a point. Construct has a new plane that follows its axis and point when they change, and it survives renames, undo, and reopening (#10472).
  • Measure takes construction geometry and reports more. Origin and construction planes, axes and points can be picked, with exact distances between them. The face of a fillet around a circular edge and a spherical face now report radius and diameter (#10157, #7160).
  • Sketch Offset makes several copies at once. An Instances count beside Distance stacks evenly spaced offsets, 1 by default, and the one Distance dimension drives them all (#9828).
  • Construction lines with a length. The horizontal, vertical, angle, parallel and perpendicular construction line tools take an optional Length, which draws a segment instead of an infinite line. A Construction | Normal switch turns that segment into a normal sketch line. Without a length nothing changes (#10427, #10551, #10639).

v0.29.0

Designs saved in 0.29.0 use format 46 and don't open in 0.28.x or older.

New

  • Interface follows your system language on first start. With no language saved yet, SolidCraft starts in the system's language: the OS locale on the desktop and the browser's languages in the web app, matched by exact tag first (such as pt-BR), then by base language (de-AT takes German), then English. A new System choice at the top of Preferences' language list is the default and keeps following the system. A language you picked earlier stays as it is (#10183).
  • Sketch Offset keeps its corners joined. Offsetting a chain whose corners only meet in position, such as separate lines and arcs held by Coincident constraints or ends within 0.0001 mm, offsets it as one chain: each new corner is where the two offset curves meet, trimmed where they overlap and extended where they fall short, in the preview too. An offset circle from a dimensioned circle no longer reports a degree of freedom (#10089, #8858, #9573).
  • Joints under each component, and show or hide many Browser rows in one drag. Each component placement in the Browser has a Joints folder listing the joints that attach it, with the placement each one joins it to; the rows click, show and hide, open and right-click like the joint's own. Pressing on a row's eye and dragging over other rows' eyes gives them all the first row's new state, as one undo step. F2 renames a clicked Browser group (#9404, #9681, #10013).

v0.28.0

Designs saved in 0.28.0 use format 45 and don't open in 0.27.x or older.

  • Print face: pick the face a part sits on, and Send to Slicer uses it. Mark a flat face as a body's print face with Ctrl+B, Print Face on the face's context menu, or the Print face input in the Send to Slicer window. Send to Slicer, Save as Mesh for a slicer and Open in EasyPrint then lay that body on the bed on that face, centered over the origin; the design itself doesn't move. The print face is lightly tinted in the view, set by Preferences › General › Slicer › Print face highlight (#8433).
  • The toolbar shows which analyses are toggled on. A surface analysis that is on shows as pressed on the ribbon, and a status item above the view names it with its setting, its legend and an × to turn it off; Section gets an item too, whose setting opens the section editor. Esc turns off the newest one. Preferences › Interface › Highlight active ribbon commands, Show viewport analysis status and Show viewport section status turn these off (#8555–#8557).
  • Point clouds: color and filter by any property in the scan. A point cloud keeps every property its PLY file gives its points. Color it by one, with a ramp for real numbers or a palette with a legend for whole numbers, and filter it by ranges or named values. Each range track shows how the values are spread and can be zoomed, stepped and played as a sweep (#8819).

v0.27.1

2026-10-30 04:24 UTC · tag v0.27.1

A patch release: active bottom-bar toggles are readable in the SolidCraft 95 theme, and fixes.

Fixed

  • SolidCraft 95 theme: an active toggle on the view's bottom bar, such as Orthographic, showed as a blank dark blue block; its label and icon now draw in the theme's selected-text colour where the accent colour doesn't read (#9171).
  • System theme on macOS: with Preferences › Interface › Theme set to System, the app follows a change of the macOS Appearance while it runs (#9103).
  • Older designs: a sketch with a projected face seen edge-on, saved by an older release, keeps its line when it is rebuilt, so an offset that uses that line no longer fails (#9097).
  • Empty sketch: a new sketch with no geometry says so in the view instead of "fully constrained" (#9104).
  • Render: a raster render too large for the renderer is refused before it starts, with a suggestion to reduce its size or the visible geometry, instead of failing partway (#5728).
  • solidcraft-cli mcp --param-check now also checks calls sent to a running app, not only a headless session (#9073).

Compatibility

0.27.1 writes design file format 44, as 0.27.0 does. It opens every earlier design, but 0.26.x and earlier refuse a design saved by 0.27.x. Drawing files (.scdwg) are format 1.

v0.27.0

Designs saved in 0.27.0 use format 44 and don't open in 0.26.x or older.

New

  • Cut and paste features and sketches between components: select features or sketches, Cut with Ctrl+X (Cmd+X) and Paste with Ctrl+V (Cmd+V) into the active component. They keep their place in the timeline and the features that use them, the bodies they make move with them, and it is one undo step; a cut that would leave any feature broken is refused (#5805).
  • Copy and paste between designs: copy bodies or components in one tab and paste them in another, at the same world position and in one undo step. Bodies arrive as imported bodies without their history; components arrive as an independent copy with their sketches and features, appearances, materials, joints between the copied parts and the user parameters they use. A component whose features use something outside it is refused, with a list of what it uses (#3512).
  • Equation curves in sketches: Sketch › Create › Equation Curve draws a curve from parametric x(t) and y(t) formulas, or from y = f(x), over a range you set. The formulas take the design's parameters, so the curve follows a parameter change, and Extrude, Revolve and Sweep take it like any spline; Edit Equation Curve is on its context menu (#8353).
  • 3D sketch tools: 3D Line, 3D Spline and 3D Point on the ribbon now start working tools in a 3D sketch, and a drawn 3D point is moved with a triad when you click it (#8041).
  • Moment of inertia in Properties: the Properties window of a part, a component or an assembly shows the inertia tensor about the centre of mass, the principal moments and axes, and the first moments, with Copy matrix, and the view marks the centre of mass with the principal axes while it is open (#8103).

v0.26.1

2026-10-29 11:46 UTC · tag v0.26.1

A patch release: a security update for the update check, Wayland pinch zoom, conflicting sketch curves drawn red, more of the Render workspace, and fixes.

Security

  • rustls-webpki 0.103.16 and webpki-root-certs 1.0.10 for RUSTSEC-2026-0382 and RUSTSEC-2026-0383, which could let certificate checks accept distrusted intermediates. In SolidCraft this affects only the desktop update check's HTTPS connection (#8588).

New

  • Trackpad pinch zooms the view on Linux under Wayland and XWayland, as it already did on macOS and in the browser (#8023).
  • Play History: the History controls and Inspect → History have a Play button that rebuilds the history one feature at a time; right-click the History controls or use Preferences to get the four-button strip back (#7853).
  • Vertex markers: a new option, off by default, draws a small dot at every vertex where edges are shown, so you can see what a vertex pick will hit (Preferences → Graphics → Vertex markers) (#8119).
  • History in the Browser: a new History layout, In browser, lists each component's sketches and features in a History folder in the Browser, with the history marker between them (Preferences → Interface → History) (#7710).
  • Extend two curves: in the Extend tool, Shift-click two curves to grow both to where they meet, joined in one undo step (#8392).
  • Ctrl+Tab and Ctrl+Shift+Tab show the next and previous design tab, and can be rebound in Preferences → Shortcuts (#8597).
  • Reverse trackpad orbit direction: a new option, off by default, in Preferences → Navigation, for natural scrolling on a Mac (#8484).
  • Move a component under another by dragging its row onto another component in the Browser; it keeps its place in the world (#8532).

v0.26.0

2026-10-29 00:47 UTC · tag v0.26.0

Designs saved in 0.26.0 use format 43 and don't open in 0.25.1 or older.

New

  • Point clouds: insert PLY, XYZ and PTS scans as a modelling reference beside the model, saved in the design and coloured by the file, a single colour or height; large scans are thinned to 5 million points by default (#5381).
  • Drawings groundwork: there is no Drawing workspace yet, but components can now be given a bill of materials type (normal, phantom, reference, purchased or inseparable) through commands, scripts and MCP, and assembly.bom counts them by it; the Bill of Materials window doesn't show the type yet, and nothing changes unless a type is set (#8249).
  • Edit a linked component in place: double-clicking a linked component now opens its design with the rest of the assembly drawn faded around it, and Finish Edit saves it and takes you back; to have double-click only activate components, change Preferences → Design → "Double-click a component to activate it, or to edit a linked one in place" (#7819).
  • Status bar and view angles: two new options, off by default: a status bar that shows the sketch's state, what is being edited and the design's units (Preferences → Interface → Status bar), and a pitch, yaw and roll readout under the orientation gizmo that you can click to type exact angles (View → View angles) (#7248, #6249).
  • Maya and HFSS mouse presets in Preferences → Navigation → Mouse mapping, a new option to reverse the vertical pan direction, off by default, and Ctrl+W (Cmd+W) closes the design shown, on the desktop and in the browser, asking first if it has unsaved changes (#8184, #5454, #5466).

v0.25.1

2026-10-28 01:45 UTC · tag v0.25.1

A fix release. Please update if you use assemblies with Extrude to Object.

Fixed

  • Bodies in different components no longer merge. Since 0.24.1, an Extrude to Object set to Join also joined the body it ran up to, even when that body belonged to another component, so separate parts (a PCB, a connector, an enclosure) could fuse into one body under one name. A Join now only reaches bodies in its own component. Designs saved in 0.24.1 or 0.25.0 open correctly again; nothing broken was stored in the file (#7975).

New

  • New designs save as .sc. .solidcraft files keep opening everywhere, and saving one keeps its name; only Save As offers .sc (#7325).

Compatibility

0.25.1 writes design file format 41, the same as 0.25.0.

New app ID. The app ID is now io.tangencylabs.solidcraft (it was ai.storyteller.solidcraft,

and ai.storyteller.solvecraft up to 0.7): flatpak update offers to replace the old app, the

.deb, .rpm and AppImage remove the old menu entry, and settings stay. On macOS the bundle ID

changed too, so macOS asks once more for the permissions it had granted.

Upgrading from 0.5 or earlier. 0.6 renamed SolveCraft to SolidCraft and made the zip

container the default save format. .solvecraft designs, old settings folders and

SOLVECRAFT_* variables are still picked up, and solvecraft-cli still forwards to

Designs saved in 0.25.0 use format 41 and don't open in 0.24.1 or older.

Highlights

  • Define parameters as you go: type name = value in a drawing tool's value box and the parameter is created (#7660).
  • Sketch dimensions: better placement and editing, switch a circle or arc between radius and diameter, delete dimensions from the right-click menu (#7056, #7729, #7170).
  • Add points to an existing spline (#7384), and Repeat Last Command in the command palette, with a key you can change (#7353).
  • Render workspace: the new stage bar, aligned floating docks and the Shots strip (#6296).
  • Smoother on big models: deeply nested assembly selection no longer stalls, Update Links reloads only what changed, model results are reused when placement doesn't matter, and Direct3D 12 no longer waits on shader compiles (#7694, #5674, #6527, #7288).
  • New themes: CGA, 1-bit and 1-bit Dark, and theme files reload when you edit them (#7594, #7557, #7574).
  • New app id io.tangencylabs.solidcraft: existing installs carry on; macOS may ask for permissions once more (#7681).

Modelling and interface

  • Cylinder and Box place by reference edges, corner or centre (#6381, #6248); Physical Material starts from the selected bodies (#7241).
  • A copying Move can be edited from the History; deleting a component instance takes its joints with it (#7761, #7782).
  • Dialogs open in the left column in place of the Browser and History (#6712).
  • Body appearance replaces imported STEP face colours (#5775); Save as Mesh can add all or visible bodies (#7297).
  • Free orbit can turn around the vertical axis (#6965).
  • Turkish and French are complete (#7668, #7133).

v0.24.1

2026-10-27 13:36 UTC · tag v0.24.1

Designs saved in 0.24.1 use format 40 and don't open in 0.24.0 or older.

Highlights

  • Faster viewport on big assemblies: colours live apart from geometry, so highlighting, hiding and see-through no longer re-upload the model; off-screen bodies are skipped; assembly names no longer rescan the design (#6970, #7416, #7423, #7436, #7380, #7396, #7411).
  • Copy and paste bodies and components, between components and between designs (#3390).
  • Send to Slicer: send the selected bodies straight to your slicer (#3600).
  • Cone primitive with base and top radius (#6250), and Sketch Transform: one box with handles to scale, move and turn what you picked (#6004).
  • Canvas to Sketch: trace a canvas image into a sketch (#4263); Insert SVG/DXF lets you place, size and turn the drawing first (#3542).
  • Reopen the designs you had open at the last quit (#6006).
  • Arabic, with right-to-left text (#3768).

Modelling and interface

  • Press Pull on a fillet's round face edits the fillet (#6815); Extrude to Object with Join also joins the target (#6471).
  • A cut made while bodies are hidden leaves them alone; Loft's automatic Join skips hidden bodies (#5148, #6894).
  • History lists a sketch under the feature built from it, and shows the origin and bodies at the top; a feature's eye shows or hides the bodies it made (#6494, #6495, #6109).
  • Move/Copy can select from the Browser and goes on to From, Point or Axis after a pick (#4774, #6171).
  • Dialogs have OK and Cancel at the top (#6713); Shift snaps free orbit direction and roll (#6949).
  • Render workspace groundwork: the lit-sphere and look-chain widgets (#6284).

Fixes

  • macOS native crashes are captured in crash reports (#6593).
