Autodesk Fusion has no native Linux version, which is why Linux users often run it through Wine. SolidCraft ships Linux builds for x86_64 and aarch64 with every release, plus a FreeBSD tarball. Pick a package below.
| Package | Best for | Updates | solidcraft-cli |
|---|---|---|---|
| AppImage | Any distro, single file | In-app “Update now” replaces the file | Inside the image only (extract it) |
| Snap | Ubuntu and snapd distros | sudo snap refresh solidcraft (also automatic) | solidcraft.cli |
| Flatpak | Sandboxed install | flatpak update --user | Not documented |
| .deb | Ubuntu, Debian, Mint | sudo apt install ./new.deb | Included |
| .rpm | Fedora, openSUSE | sudo dnf install ./new.rpm | Not verified here |
| tar.gz | Manual / portable | Unpack the new archive | Included |

chmod +x solidcraft-0.16.2-linux-x86_64.AppImage
./solidcraft-0.16.2-linux-x86_64.AppImage
On first open it adds a menu entry and icons under ~/.local/share (not if appimaged, Gear Lever or AppImageLauncher already handle it). To turn that off, create an empty file ~/.local/share/solidcraft/no-desktop-integration or start it with SOLIDCRAFT_NO_DESKTOP_INTEGRATION=1.
sudo snap install solidcraft
solidcraft
solidcraft.cli --version
sudo snap connect solidcraft:removable-media # USB drives / external disks
The snap reaches your home folder (not hidden folders). A release .snap file installs with sudo snap install --dangerous ./solidcraft-VERSION-linux-ARCH.snap but then does not update automatically.
flatpak remote-add --user --if-not-exists flathub https://dl.flathub.org/repo/flathub.flatpakrepo
flatpak remote-add --user --if-not-exists solidcraft https://docs.solidcraft.io/flatpak/solidcraft.flatpakrepo
flatpak install --user solidcraft ai.storyteller.solidcraft
flatpak run ai.storyteller.solidcraft
Old remote pointing at bherbruck.github.io? Run flatpak remote-modify --user --url=https://docs.solidcraft.io/flatpak/repo/ solidcraft, then flatpak update --user. A release bundle installs with flatpak install --user ./solidcraft-VERSION-linux-ARCH.flatpak.
sudo apt install ./solidcraft-0.16.2-linux-x86_64.deb # Ubuntu / Debian / Mint
sudo dnf install ./solidcraft-0.16.2-linux-x86_64.rpm # Fedora
tar xzf solidcraft-0.16.2-linux-x86_64.tar.gz # solidcraft + solidcraft-cli
Use the aarch64 files on ARM64 machines.
For AI agents you need solidcraft-cli. It ships in the deb and tar.gz and as solidcraft.cli in the snap; the AppImage only runs the GUI. Step-by-step: AppImage: where is solidcraft-cli for MCP? and the MCP tutorial.
solidcraft --safe-mode (Flatpak: flatpak run ai.storyteller.solidcraft --safe-mode) or SOLIDCRAFT_SAFE_MODE=1: default settings, software renderer.SOLIDCRAFT_RENDERER=cpu uses only the software renderer and keeps your settings.~/.local/share/solidcraft; thumbnails in $XDG_CACHE_HOME/SolidCraft or /tmp/SolidCraft.~/.var/app/ai.storyteller.solidcraft/data/solidcraft.
